Annual membership drive
It's that time of year where we are gearing up for our annual membership drive. This year we are offering to pay for a member's 2011 dues for recruiting three new members during the period from June 1st, 2009 to May 31, 2010. Also the person or persons signing the most new members during this period will have their name engraved on a plaque naming them as # 1 for signing the most new members for the year. In addition to this offer, for each 3 new members that a member signs up from January 1st to the annual membership drive day, March 6th, that members name will be placed in a bucket. At the membership dance on March 6th, a name will be drawn from the bucket for an invition to attend the annual 2010 employee and officers Christmas Party. (This event includes a quality meal, open bar and gift prizes.) Remember we are a club where members can go and expect not to have to watch their backs or listen to foul mouths, so we are looking for quality members who can appreciate the same.
Junior Order of Eagles (JOE)
Thrursday, February 11th - There will be a meeting for anyone (does not have to be an Eagle member) interested in helping form a JOE (Junior Order of Eagles) in the function Hall at 6 pm. The Eagles are a family based organization and we are looking to get youth involved. We are looking to give our kids ages 11 - 18 another option for something to do in an area where there is not much available. Options include dances, games, movies, outside activities and much more. Come on down and see what it's all about and if it might be of interest to you. JOE member's parents need not be an Eagles member to join.(see article below from our club president)
From club President Edwin Provencher:
Dear Members, We are interested in organizing a Junior Order of Eagles Club. We need your help in contacting youths who might be interested in joining our Junior Order of Eagles Club. Our purpose in proposing a J.O.E. Club is to let our children know that we are interested in what they do and to give them a place to meet other than on the streets. The J.O.E. club shall have its own officers elected by the youths. They shall also have an Advisory committee comprised of interested Aerie and Auxiliary members appointed by the Worthy President. Members who are willing to work with the youths on any money-making projects, dances, trips, etc. are welcome. We will offer dances whenever it can be arranged to have the hall with either live or recorded music.
The Youths can be hired to work at the club assisting in various functions earning money for its treasury. The club would be self supporting with money raised through car washes, candy sales, raffles, dances, etc.. All Aerie members, Auxiliary members and interested parents interested in giving a helping hand in guiding our youngsters, please contact one of our club officers. Let us show everyone that we at the Rumford Falls Aerie #1248 are concerned about our youth.
Law Enforcement, EMT and Firefighter Membership Program
As approved at the 2008 International Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, all law enforcement, EMT and firefighters in United States and Canada are eligible to become members without paying dues or per capita taxes for one year of membership. This program does include volunteer, paid, and military law enforcement and firefighters, as well as those that have dropped from our Order and have not received a free year of membership.
These individuals join the Fraternal Order of Eagles for one (1) year at no cost to them or the Aerie/Auxiliary.
